A Note from Daisy About her Heartwishes Series
I have my wonderful, long gone, grandparents to thank for the initial concept behind Heartwishes, my magical contemporary romance series. Old world and superstitious, they'd given me assorted charms they'd brought with them from the old country, meant to provide me with good luck and keep me safe. As a diehard daydreamer, I dreamed up fairytale-like scenarios, imagining the charms were magical. Maybe if I wished hard enough a handsome prince would appear. As an adult, the idea still made me smile, so I decided to flesh it out, changing the prince into a handsome Viking instead. I created a family legend about a pair of magical heartwish rings that had been given to the matriarch of a Viking king by Odin, the Norse god. He'd created them from an enchanted stone he broke in half and divided between two deserving families. The beloved Norwegian matriarch in Heartwishes, Grandma Bekka (a composite of my two grandmothers), passed her heartwish ring to her granddaughter, Delaney (the oldest of 6 siblings), who did indeed find her handsome Viking one day. And the Heartwishes stories proceed from there.
